VIENTIANE, July 22 (Xinhua) — Laos recorded a trade deficit of 126 million U.S. dollars in June, according to the latest figures from the Lao Trade Portal website.
The total value of trade in June was recorded at over 1 billion U.S. dollars, of which 458 million U.S. dollars were exports and 584 million U.S. dollars were imports, said a report issued on Friday from the Lao Trade Portal website.
Laos’ main export products included salt, mixed gold and bullion, paper and paper products, copper ore, sugar, iron ore, beverage, pulp and paper scrap, clothing and rubber.
The country’s main imports included diesel, land vehicles, electronic appliances, mechanical equipment, auto parts, steel and steel products, beverages, gasoline, plastic products, and electronic lines and cables.
China remains the top export destination for Laos, followed by Vietnam and Thailand. Meanwhile, the main importing countries of Laos include Thailand, China and Vietnam, according to the report.
