Bhd., a prominent Malaysian property developer, in a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the development of sustainable townships in Malaysia. This collaboration will see ENGIE Services Malaysia and Gamuda Land working together to explore and implement innovative solutions in the domains of solar energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable transportation within Gamuda Land’s townships. The partnership encompasses various initiatives, including the installation of rooftop solar systems and the development of green transportation infrastructure for several townships in Selangor. 

5.1 MW Solar Farm Construction Begins In Philippines’ Iloilo As Palm Concepcion Power Expands Into Renewable Energy

Construction has commenced on a 5.1 megawatt (MW) solar farm located in Concepcion town, Iloilo province, as part of the ongoing efforts of Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC). PCPC, known for operating a 135 MW coal-fired power plant in the same area, is celebrating its seventh anniversary of commercial operations. This solar project represents PCPC’s expansion into the realm of renewable energy. PCPC’s President and CEO, Nicandro Fucoy, highlighted the significance of the solar farm, emphasizing its potential to reduce carbon emissions while contributing as an additional energy source. Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. praised PCPC’s green initiative, aligning it with the provincial government’s commitment to renewable energy.

Thailand’s Public Health Ministry Goes Green With Solar Power Adoption

The Public Health Ministry of Thailand is taking strides toward sustainability by embracing solar power and electric vehicles to combat energy consumption and address global warming. Under the Ministry’s Smart Energy and Climate Action (SECA) policy, 1,855 agencies are mandated to install solar panels by the year’s end. These agencies include Provincial Public Health Offices, District Public Health Offices, regional hospitals, general hospitals, and community hospitals. Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, the ministry’s permanent secretary, anticipates annual electricity cost savings of 904.35 million baht and a reduction of 99,458 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

One Meralco Foundation Empowers LETMULCO With Solar-Power

The Agriculture and Livelihood Electrification Project, featuring a 5.4-megawatt solar power system, has been officially transferred to the Lundag Eskaya Tribe Multi-purpose Cooperative (LETMULCO) by the One Meralco Foundation (OMF), represented by its Executive Director, Jeffrey Tarayao. This solar power project will enable LETMULCO to power their machinery for processing camote and bananas, enhancing their livelihood opportunities. The handover ceremony was attended by Mayor Wilson Pajo, Captain Edilio Balaba Sr. of Lundag, LETMULCO officials led by Chairman Apolonio Bia Jr., and members of the project. This initiative ensures that LETMULCO can continue its food processing operations even during power outages.

Philippines To Launch 100 Megawatt Floating Solar Farm In Cadiz City

A groundbreaking 100-megawatt (MW) floating solar power facility, the first in Visayas and Mindanao, is set to be constructed in Cadiz City, northern Negros Occidental. The project is a collaboration between Zonal Renewables Corp. (ZRC) and property owner A.M. Hijos Inc. (AMHI), known for their prominent Montelibano family ties in the region. The facility will be located on a 90-hectare fishpond in Barangay Tinampaan. While specific details such as project cost and construction timelines remain undisclosed, the Montelibano family views this endeavor as their contribution to the government’s decarbonization efforts, as a floating solar power project can sequester around 1,250 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to planting 357,500 trees each year.

The partnership included the completion of a 10.95-megawatt (MW) large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Perak, Malaysia. ACEN Corporation’s Subsidiary Partners With Silverwolf Capital For Solar Projects In Taiwan

A subsidiary of ACEN Corp., a company led by Ayala, has joined forces with a Singaporean firm to develop solar projects in Taiwan, as part of its global expansion strategy in the renewable energy sector. In a recent announcement on the stock exchange, ACEN revealed that its renewable energy unit, ACEN Renewables International Pte. Ltd. (ACRI), has entered into a shareholders’ agreement with Silverwolf Capital Ltd. for this project, establishing a joint venture entity named ACEN-Silverwolf Pte. Ltd. ACEN disclosed that ACRI is planning to invest approximately $2 million as working capital for the project, with ACEN holding a 50% ownership stake in the venture.

These MOUs will pave the way for Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Mall, Intermark Mall, and Pavilion Bukit Jalil to explore electricity purchase opportunities generated by solar power plants.
